IT HAS TO BE SAID!!!

IT HAS TO BE SAID!!!

In life there are some things that should never be said. Just because something is true does not give us an excuse to say it. I am a big believer in the fact that sometimes IT IS BETTER TO JUST KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!!! This is not one of them, so I will just say it...

BRETT FAVRE IS A BAD TEAM MATE!

Before I explain to you why he is a bad team mate, let me say I LOVE WATCHING BRETT FAVRE PLAY! I sat on mt bed watching Sports Center on Wednesday and they played a highlight of memorable Favre plays and soundbites and I was reminded how much I enjoy this guy. I have to admit, there is nobody that I like more, that I like less. I respect what he has accomplished as a quarterback. I love the way he plays the game.

However, make no mistake about it, Brett Favre is a bad team mate. One minute he is coming back, the next minute he is retiring. This has been going on for FIVE YEARS! He held the Packers organization hostage, with the will he or won't he retire. Then he retires, and they make Aaron Rodgers the starter...Just Kidding guys, I want to come back. Green Bay refuses and sends him to the Jets. EXACT SAME THING IN NEW YORK, However this time he got himself a release so he could go to the Vikings (the team he wanted to play for all along). Minnesota says take all of the time you need and he does. I had then and still do not have any problems with the way Minnesota has handled this. Let him come in when you want.

The problem with this is BRETT FAVRE GOT US AGAIN!!! It was announced on Tuesday that he had texted in that he would be retiring. On Wednesday, Favre says he did not text anyone. The problem with this is Visanthe Shiancoe is saying that Favre told him he was retiring and this was a major setback for the Vikings. When asked about Shiancoe's comments, Favre says that why I love him. What does that even mean?

Brett Favre is the most selfish man in all of sports. He is one of the all time great qb's, but he has held up 2 franchises, forced 1 trade, 1 release, had 2 retirement press conferences only to be the starting qb on the 1st game of the following season. Jared Allen sounded like a very frustrated man when he made the comments "Regardless of what he does, the sun is gonna come up, we are gonna have football to play, and we all have to be here practicing." Shiancoe now says he does not know what to believe, and why should he, Favre threw him under the bus by saying he had not texted anyone even though Shiancoe was already on record as saying he texted me.

There is another factor here...THE MONEY!!! Go ahead and tell me how he does not need the money. If money can't impact this decision, the why did the Vikings add money to his salary this year. This was not a case of reworking a deal, there are no extra years to be reported. There are no salary cap ramifications. Why would the Vikings feel the need to call and say "By the way if you play this year, I want to give you an extra $3 million, just because I am trying to get to an even number with our payroll. NO, On Tuesday, they were under the belief that Favre was done and so they did the only thing they could do...OFFER MORE MONEY! If money has nothing to do with this, then DON'T TAKE IT! Please do not pull a LeBron on me and take the money but "give it to charity". SAY NO TO THE MONEY!

At least this would mean that it was not about money, and that would make you a man of your word...AT LEAST FOR ONCE!

Sorry, Brett.

Until Next Time...

  1. Calhoun, Guess who? I see that you are still here posting stuff that you can't seem to find all of the info on. Favre is the only quarterback to have led a team to victory over all thirty-two teams in the league since the NFL first expanded to 32 franchises in 2002. Your little blog waste my time can't figure out why I come back to randomly check on you. STEP UP YOUR GAME BOY!!!!
Your never gonna make it with these lame post you got need stats and facts.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Dear Fantasy Geek (at least that is how you will be referred to from here on out). I am glad to see you are back, who else is going to get on here and offer random POINTLESS facts that have nothing to do with my post. I am sorry if you believe I may have been premature in believing that Shiancoes comments implied Favre sent the message from him, I just hope you emailed Ed Werder and made him aware of the mistake, because i quoted the Werder - Favre exchange. I still question, if this never happened, WHY DID THE VIKINGS FEEL THE NEED TO OFFER MORE MONEY WITHOUT GETTING ANYTHING BACK? There were no more years, none of the money was delayed, there were so salary cap ramifications, so why did they do it? I will tell you why, because REGARDLESS WHO GOT THE TEXT, HE SENT IT!!! The Vikings did not wake up Wednesday morning and pull Favres name out of a hat to get the extra money they wanted to give away. Why are you failing to address the facts, BRETT FAVRE IS A BAD TEAMMATE. The Vikings are answering the is he coming question. You failed to address the fact that Jared Allen sounds like his patience is wearing out on this subject. You keep ignoring the facts, but HE IS A DIVA WHO POUTED AND ACTED LIKE A BABY WHEN THE PACKERS STOPPED CATERING TO HIM. He retires and changes his mind and blames the Packers for moving on, PUH LEASE BRETT SHUT UP AND STOP CRYING. He can't get to the Vikings so he goes to the JETS and then retires again, and when they move on, he manipulates the situation to get a release...PUH LEASE! Now he is doing the same thing and just when he started to stop being the center of attention, people start talking Bengals, Hall of Fame Ceremony this comes out...PUH LEASE BRETT! THIS GUY IS A DIVA AND A TERRIBLE TEAMMATE!

As for these stats that you seem to care about so very much. Yes Favre is impressive. He owns alot of records, yet somehow he NEVER GETS MENTIONED AS THE BEST QB EVER! He is in the discussion, but never near the top from anyone who knows anything about football. The reason for that is it is not all about stats---ESPICIALLY FOR QB'S! However, I was impressed by some of his stats, like the 1 of 11 guys to throw a 99 yard td pass, that list includes such "greats" as Gus Frerotte, Stan Humphries, Jeff Garcia, and George Izo...TRUE GREATS OF THE GAME! I am impressed by the length of time between receptions (truely impressive). But the one that really got me was all of the yards he piled up against the Lions in all of those victories, never mind the fact that they have only won 3 games during Favre's 19 years in the league. If you want to be fair, you would subtract his numbers against the Lions, because I could have found 10 bums under a bridge and put up a better defense then they did most years. As for beating every team, move Brady or Manning from their teams now, let them have 2 shots at those teams when they have a more talented team and I GUARANTEE you, that list will grow by 2. The important thing is his numbers HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS POST. Those numbers have nothing to do with the tyoe of teammate that he is.

I would like to say I am looking forward to your response, but I looked back and can not find one time where you responded to one my rebuttals of your comments. So clearly you like to come, post nothing, and then disappear (no wonder you won't put your name to yout posts).

  3. Excuse my ignorance, but at what point did the post say that Favre never broke a record, didn't put up good stats, or that he was a poor football player?

If you read the post for the purpose of the post, instead of reading to pick it apart and insert what you would have said, then you would see that "Your Honor" Calhoun enjoyed watching Favre, and credited him for his accomplishments. He said, "there is nobody that I like more...I respect what he has accomplished as a quarterback. I love the way he plays the game."

That short group of sentences summed up the countless SECONDS that it took you to wikipedia those stats, without taking up 3 pages and boring any of us who actually decided to read through the stats that you copied and pasted. (You left out your source, by the way. You really should credit where you find your information, or at least ATTEMPT to put it into your own words)

Beyond that, outside of Fantasy Sports and Hall of Fame voting, throwing out random stats is absolutely pointless. Michael Vick can run for more yards than Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, and Walter Payton combined, and I still wouldn't want him on my team, nor would I purchase a jersey with his name and number on it. Because he has shown that he makes poor decisions off the field. Much in the same way, I would not like to have Favre on my team because he is a bad teammate. He has left his teammates (and coaches) out to dry with the poor decisions that he has made over the past several years. Minnesota had the opportunity to try and trade for McNabb, Rothlesberger, Vick, etc this off-season, but because "The Holy One" can't man up and make up his mind, the Vikings are likely left with a quarterback that has started only 19 games in his 4-year career, in Tavaris Jackson. Little experience, coupled with nagging injuries, sums up the player leading the team that fell 1 game short of the Super Bowl only 7 months ago. All of this, because a 41 year old man failed to grow up and make a decision. THAT is the only stat that is relevant to this post. The ones you copied and pasted have nothing to do with it.

So I challenge you to do the same. You talk big game, Mr or Mrs Anonymous. I now challenge YOU to step up YOUR game. Give us something that YOU ACTUALLY WROTE that is worth the time it takes us to read. Something that takes more than a 10-second wikipedia search. Post a real response. I'd LOVE to see what you can put together when you put some REAL work into a post.

  4. The Dr is in the house. That is how you bring it. The worst part about all of those stats was I ACTUALLY READ THEM ALL! I am glad that they were posted, it made me aware of something that I was not aware of, Brett Favre is MEDIOCRE IN THE PLAYOFFS! Yes he won a lot of regular season games, but llok at the Vikings, Bears, and Lions during that time, he should have been winning alot during the regular season, however in the playoffs when qb play matters most - he is 13 - 11 and has a 1.5 - 1 td to interception ratio. I had no idea he was that bad in the playoffs. I would happily give away some of those wonderful stats to win more in the postseason like, Aikman, Brady, Montana, and Bradshaw all did. I think numbers are really bad if you look at the right ones and ultimately, when it mattered the most he lost as much as he won.

  5. Calhoun & Phillips

Can either one of you say that you have never said that you was going to quit your job more than Brett has but the reason no one knew about it was that neither one of you is as big of a name as he is that is why it is all such a big deal so is it really that you two are the divas because you two can't get any attention when y'all don't want to go back to work or is it that Brett is worse than we all are because I know that I have said plenty of times that I was gonna quit and I am sure that there is plenty of employees out there that would like to have a raise and make more money and some of them have even threatened to quit for more money. So go ahead and deny that one.

As far as the stats don't think Vick could ever rush for more yards than Sanders, Smith or Payton seperately non the less even combined come on Phillips that is none senseand you know that you two should start your own comedy show because sports is something that alot of us take ineterest in and it seems like you two are trying to jsut get people to respond to these foolish post.

So to both of you that think I won't repost to your comments is crazy. I would challenge either of you too a sports debate any day of the week but it will be about stats not no none sense opinions because all of that is a waste of time you need proof to back up the articles that get written everyone knows that.

Until I check back in on you two do me one favor. STEP UP YOUR GAME BOYS. For you Calhoun this is Fantasy Geek signing off thanks for the name.

  6. Alright, Geek. Once again, you are throwing together situations and stories that have NOTHING to do with the post preceding yours. I am not in a contract with my employer. I am not deciding whether or not to break my contract by retiring. My employer is not holding their breath, waiting to hear whether I am going to break my contract or not before they spend millions of dollars on a replacement for me.

Yes, I have had jobs where I felt that I deserved more money. Yes, I asked for more money. When I did not receive the raise that I felt that I deserved, yes, I did quit. The differences between Favre and I continue to grow: I gave my former employer plenty of time to find a replacement. I stayed to train that employee. I then left my job, allowing my former company to continue to function as it did before I left. And the biggest difference between me and Favre: After quitting my job, I DID NOT CHANGE MY MIND! I have NEVER called that employer to tell them that I was having second thoughts. As you can see, there are many more differences between my situation and Favre's situation than are similarities.

And the reason why my employer did not know that I was leaving the company until I told them was because I DID NOT SEND A TEXT MESSAGE TO ONE OF MY COWORKERS TO TELL THEM THAT I WAS GOING TO QUIT! I didn't feel the need to pull that attention to myself. It was not the business of those who I worked with. It was the business of myself, my family, and my employer. After taking care of those individuals, I held a meeting with my coworkers and broke the news to them. After my mind was made up and all who deserved to know first had been informed. Apparently Favre hasn't learned the meaning of being subtle or courteous.

Of course Vick couldn't rush for as many yards as any of those GREAT players. That was not my argument. But being that you are who I am discussing this with, I'm not surprised that my words have been twisted. I was simply making a comparison. I was giving you something to back up my stance on the situation. I use comparable situations to prove my point. You apparently copy and paste wikipedia.

As far as your challenge, name the time and place, and it will be done. I'm sure "Your Honor" will be in attendance as well. I will honor your request of including (RELEVANT) statistics, as long as you honor my request of NO WIKIPEDIA!

What confuses me more than any of the nonsense you have provided is the fact that you keep complaining about how ridiculous these posts and comments are, yet you continue to read. I only wish you would provide more relevant feedback. I look forward to your response, Geek.

  7. Well, well, well, I have never been happier about being wrong then I am on this one. Fantasy Geek (i will call you by your name the minute you actually identify yourself), you are not afraid to respond. This is pretty good post...TOTALLY WRONG, but it has Passion and you at least came back with thoughts.

As for your comments, NO I HAVE NEVER SAID I'M QUOTING UNTIL I ACTUALLY QUIT. There have been times I WANTED TO QUIT, but I did not tell anyone I was doing it. If he wants to quit fine do it, but if not play. I would have been fired if I failed to show up to work at work time, not Favre, EVERYONE GIVES HIM A PASS, I'm not doing, I have an obligation to be real and he's not being fair this teammates. Se for asking for more money, his agent says he's not trying to get more money so the argument that we have all asked for more money argument is inapplicable.
If we are gonna look at the records and say that makes him one of the best, then he's one of the worst qbs ever. Most interception, most most sacks, most playoff losses ever. Does this mean Favre is terrible, no---EVEN THOUGH THE #S SUGGEST THIS. He's played a long time, 19 years, many of the stats are simply based on longevity. Good job playing a ling time, but put them in context of what they are.

Now as for your little challenge, PUT YOUR NAME ON THIS BLOG, AND I WILL CONTACT YOU TODAY TO SEE ABOUT SETTING UP THIS DEBATE. It is easy to say I'll do it anonymously, I am throwing down the challenge...IT'S OUT UP OR SHUT UP TIME. We can record it and post it on my blog, I'M GIVING YOU THE CHANCE TO MAKE ME LOOK FOOLISH ON MY BLOG. Question is will you accept...I already know the answer. You afraid to out your name on here, email me mcalhoun2205@gmail.com, I will respond.
Dr. Phillips, please stop encouraging this guy to stop reading ill take the bad comments because they are still comments. I know what you are saying, but I dont wanna scare this person off.
