It's Time

As I sat in my living room watching the coin flip for overtime of the NFC Title Game I was reminded of a movie I saw while a child, Old Yeller. See this started out as one of my favorite movies as a child. The story told of young boy and his family who adopts a stray dog. The dog is a great friend to the entire family, including Travis who initially rejects the idea of having a dog. This dog was there for the entire family on multiple occasions saving them from raccoons, snakes, bears and eventually a wolf. During this encounter with the wold Yeller gets bitten and becomes exposed to rabies. Yeller becomes a threat to the family that he loves and has protected through so many situations. Old Yeller HAD to be shot!

How does this apply to the NFC Title Game you ask? Last night the old dog who we have all grown to love gave us another example as to why we must take him out back and shoot him. Obviously, I am not literally saying it is time to shoot the man, but I am saying it is time for someone to step up and make the hard decision...BRETT IT IS TIME TO RETIRE!!! Not another I'm retired press conference. You see Brett Favre, like Old Yeller, is a fighter. That's what he does. After the success he had throughout this season Favre, like many of you, are sitting there saying he did more good than bad. But look at the damage he did on one Sunday night in New Orleans. He played OK, but when "the family" needed "Old Yeller" the most, he turned on them and went from being the protector to the one they needed protection from. I am not denying the fact that there is plenty of blame to go around for this loss, However as badly as everyone played the Vikings were sitting there with a chance to win the game in the final seconds when Brett Favre turns into Brett Favre.

I am sorry boys and girls, I know this will be difficult for all of you. I am sorry Brett, you have given us so many wonderful memories ( I will never forget the way you played this game like it was a game in a time where everyone was telling us how this is just a business). But deep down, we all know this has to be done, it is best for everyone. Don't worry, I will do it. Just as young Travis was forced to grow up and become a man at way to early of an age, I will go out back and do what has to be done.

I am sorry Brett, we Love you!!!

BANG!!!

  3. well all i can say is Favre led his team further than 28 other teams and yes further than ur boy Brady! And it wasnt his fault there was 12 men in the huddle it wasnt his fought they fumbled 4 times but some how it all falls on his shoulders cause his team put him in that spot! He gave them every chance to win way b4 the last 2 min. Yes he is old yes he was beat up i mean he got hit over 20 times thats the most hes ever been knocked down how about block for a old man! But he probably will retire cause hes definatly beat up and batered now, he shouldnt be shot he should be carried out on there shoulders like Ceaser Augustus was with everyone chanting all hail to Brett the best QB ever!!!!!!!!

  4. Wait a minute, the team had 4 fumbles, but HE put them in position to win. What about HIS fumble? What about HIS 2 picks in the 4th quarter? Reagardless of how far he got them to at the end of the day his team is not making a trip to Miami, b/c when "HE" had his team in a position to win, HE and HE ALONE, made the worst mistake any qb can make, He threw across his body while rolling out---YOU NEVER NEVER DO THAT! Thanks Brett for the lasting memory, kinda reminds me of the lasting memory from Green Bay (interception on a poorly thrown ball).

  5. I was all for Brett coming out of retirement if that's what he wanted to do. I was also rooting for him for much of the season. However, after his tempertanturms with his coach I changed my tune. I no longer wanted to see him succeed and show up the Packers. I know that his personal behavior should not be a cheering factor, but(maybe its because I'm a girl)they are. Some will say that doesn't affect his ability to make the plays and be an awesome quaterback. To those, you are so wrong. What led Brett Farve to show out against his coach is the same thing that lost the game for the Vikings. Brett Farve's vanity! I saw in a interveiw on Yahoo Sports the he thought his ankle was broken and just had them tape it back up. People say that's exactly what makes him great. Really??? I see it as him saying I am my team's ONLY hope! I personally do not think he thought his ankle was broken, but it became his excuse the take the attention off of his unglorious finale from the NFL(hopefully)! He still has some talent as a quaterback and a team that needs a QB will get skill, but along with it comes the unpredictability of a volcano! Brett Favre cost his team the chance in Miami and the Super Bowl.

  6. Wow, I did not realize that Mandie had it in her. Very good points. Now the real queastion is this, are you prepared to admit you precious Peyton Manning is in trouble on the 7th against the Saints. They play very aggressive defense and that has always given Manning trouble (see the 1st half of the Jets game).
